Part 1 of 4: Nutnfancy review of the outstanding G17 pistol. Mired in controversy was un-founded the excellent Glock 17 for us in the 1980s. It was a groundbreaking design that still stands up to the present day. It was the result of a start-from-scratch design by Austrian mechanical engineer Gaston Glock, the hitherto had no firearms design experience. Amazing. To date, the semi-automatic Glock pistols are Nutnfancys general level of activity for each new gun design (especially in 9mm). When IStudy a new design I assess it on terms of some straight questions. Is it simply the Glock worth in terms of weight, firepower, durability and reliability, ergonomics, simplicity, availability of accessories and price? Generally the answer is no. Yes, there are some great designs from other manufacturers and I'm a fan of those too. But, if the above categories are objectively tallied and considered in its entirety, the Glock design is usually onup (at least for my system requirements). This is an amazing feat for a design that is decades old. Nutnfancy sympathy scale: 10 of 10
